The Death of Charlie Kirk

On September 10, 2025, during a Turning Point USA American Comeback Tour event at Utah Valley University, Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while on stage in front of an audience of nearly 3,000 people. The attack occurred around 12:23 p.m. MDT, just 20 minutes after the event began.

Moments before the shooting, Kirk had been debating mass shootings in the United States. His final words were in response to a student’s question: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”

Kirk was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead later that afternoon at the age of 31. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was arrested two days later in Washington, Utah.

On September 14, 2025, a large public vigil was held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with attendance from senior government officials, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and Health and Human Services Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

A national memorial service is scheduled for September 21, 2025, at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, which can host over 60,000 attendees.
